8th International Conference on Man-Animal Interactions held in Prague
and sponsored by IAHAIO. On a workshop headed by the WHO (World Health
Organization), Arca gave a presentation about the Animal Population
Control program in Taboão da Serra, SP. On that occasion, Arca
Brasil was chosen as the host for the next IAHAIO Conference, held
in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

1999 - Taboão da Serra, SP: Adoption Fair
A new concept of fairs with the purpose of promoting the adoption
of street animals after they have been vaccinated, wormed, registered
and sterilized.
1999 - São Paulo: A Cat Day photo exibition
Photographic exhibition called "Um Dia de Gato" (A Cat Day),
displaying pictures of renowned photographers who donated their work
on behalf of Arca Brasil's work in the field of pet population and
responsible ownership.
1999 - São Paulo: Alternatives Seminar
Seminar on alternatives to the use of animals in school systems, in
partnership with the Veterinary School of the University of São
Paulo.
March 2000 - São Paulo: Workshop
Workshop " Responsible Animal Ownership and Zoonosis Control",
in partnership with IAHAIO and WHO.
October 2000 - São Paulo
2nd Latin American and 3rd Brazilian Animal Welfare Conference.
September 2001 - Rio de Janeiro
Co-organization of the 9th International Conference on Human-Animal
Interactions, with participants from over 25 countries, the first
event of this kind to take place in the southern hemisphere.
September 2001 - São Paulo
Organization of the 1st Training Program called "Zoonosis Control
and Human-Animal Interaction", addressed to 120 local animal
control professionals, educators and researchers coming from over
14 Brazilian States. The goal was to exchange experiences, aiming
at the implementation of preventive, humane animal control policies.
The event was promoted by IAHAIO and relied on the participation of
experts from PAHO- Pan-American Health Organization, State and Federal
animal control authorities and WSPA-World Society for the Protection
of Animals.
June 2002 - Sao Paulo
Training to educators / teachers representing the municipal and private
educational system of Sao Paulo City. The initiative has no precedent
in its size and reach. The goal was to train multipliers in each school
on concepts related to the Responsible Pet Ownership (RPO) of companion
animals.
