People and Animals: A global perspective for the 21st century

 

The 9th International Conference on Men-Animal Interactions took place in Rio de Janeiro in September 2001. The central theme was "People and Animals: a global perspective for the 21st century".

As the Brazilian representative of IAHAIO (International Association for Human-Animal Interactions Organizations), which congregates representatives from over 40 countries, ARCA Brasil co-organized the conference. That was the first time the event took place in the Southern Hemisphere. Internationally acclaimed specialists presented their work and gave practical demonstrations.

The conference made several headlines in the Brazilian media for promoting the discussion on the benefits of a healthy interaction between people and domestic animals.
