The spectacular arrest of president's Lula da Silva ads man on a cockfight last October in Rio De Janeiro brings back debates on cruelties against animals

On October 21st of 2004, Duda Mendonça, Brazilian president's Lula da Silva political marketing coordinator, and the city councilman Jorge Babu, were arrested - together with almost 200 other who were on a cockfighting ring, in the neighborhood of Jacarepaguá, in Rio de Janeiro.

The episode fueled debates on cruelties against animals for human entertainment. Duda paid bail and was set free.
